Firsthand is an app that turns a photo you take at a live game or event into a real trading card. The app stamps the card with where you were and when, verified by GPS and a trusted clock at the moment of capture. Your card is a true one of one: your seat, your angle, your split second. It exists once, and only you hold it.

How is a Firsthand card different from a Topps or Panini card?

A shop prints thousands of copies of the same card and thousands of people own it. A Firsthand card is made from your own photo at the event, so it exists exactly once. Nobody else on earth has your angle, your second, your card. The only way anyone else ever holds it is if you hand it on, by gift or by trade once the hub opens.

What does verified mean on a Firsthand card?

Verified means the photo was taken in the app, inside the venue, during the event, with no mock location, checked against GPS and a trusted clock. A card only carries the verified stamp when every gate passes. If a check fails, the card says so; verification is never faked and never edited afterward.

Does Firsthand work for kids' games and school teams?

Yes. Firsthand covers every level, from pro arenas to little league Saturday mornings, plus school programs like marching band, cheer, and drill team. Parents mint cards of their own kids, share them digitally for free, and export press-quality print files at 300 DPI. Kids' cards are never public and never tradeable.

Why this did not exist before

Anybody can take a picture.
Nobody could prove one.

A photograph is a claim. It says a thing happened, and it carries nothing that can back that up. That is the whole reason a fan's own shot has never been worth anything, and it is the one thing Firsthand fixes.

And the photos you already have are not shut out. Four years of your daughter's games are on that phone right now, and telling you to go and shoot them again is telling you they are gone. Bring them in from your camera roll and they become keepsakes: your own words on the back, any finish, print them whenever you like. What they cannot get is a number, because the app was not there and will not pretend it was. That is the same rule, kept honestly in both directions.

Here is the part nobody else can copy. A card company decides how many to print. Somebody in an office picks a number, and that number is a business decision. Firsthand does not decide. The number on your card is a headcount of how many people were actually in that building minting one that night. When the event closes, the count freezes, and that is the run, forever. Scarcity nobody chose and nobody can print more of.

And it runs the whole ladder. No card company will ever make a card of a nine year old's Saturday morning, because you cannot serve that from a press box with a credential. A stadium fan and a little league parent using one camera and one proof has simply never been possible before, which is why nobody has done it.

How verification actually works

The app finds the event, not you. Live event data tells us what's happening within a mile of where you're standing, the game, the venue, the tip-off window. You never type a venue, so a venue can never be faked.

Trade cards must earn the checkmark. Taken in the app, GPS inside the venue, trusted clock inside the event window. All three or the card says NOT VERIFIED, and an unverified card will never trade as verified.

Photos you already have are welcome, as keepsakes. Import anything off your phone and it becomes a real card with your own words on the back. It will not carry a number, because the app cannot say where you were or when. The card says so plainly rather than quietly leaving it out.

Keepsakes are yours either way. Giving a card to family? Shooting your kid at a park with no ticketed event? It still mints, it's still real, the back just shows honestly which checks passed. The high bar exists to protect the traded cards' value, not to stop your memories.

Is the app free?

Yes. Shooting, minting, keeping, and sharing digital cards is free. You pay only if you want a card printed, and free and paid users get the exact same mint caps, scarcity is never for sale.

What does "3 of 47 minted" mean?

Trade cards are capped at three per person per regular-season event, fewer for playoffs and championships. The total minted at an event freezes when the night closes, your card's number in that run is permanent.

Can strangers see my kid's cards?

No. Team cards made through a school or program account are visible only to that school's own community through its private link. Kids' cards are never public and never tradeable.

What makes a card "verified"?

Three checks at the moment you shoot: taken inside the app, GPS inside the venue, and a trusted clock inside the event window. Pass all three and the card is verified forever. Miss one and the card still mints, it just says honestly what happened.

Can I print at home?

You can export your card, but real Firsthand prints come from professional card presses at 300 dpi on true card stock, shipped to you, the same file a card shop would cut.
